- Budong : a sofa with a unique design feature: the ends of the seat and back section are angled up. Super easy to transform between sofa and bed, the Budong is a fantastic solution for any possible stay over guests.
- Budong : The largest living creature in the Uncharted Territories. A creature that eats ships (if one is found alive); from the Farscape TV Series. An alien-like whale. Budongs are humongous space-borne creatures very rarely found alive. Their corpses though are rich in a valuable crystal hence the mining operation.
- Budong : Budong-Budong is a Seko language spoken in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
- Budong : In Kalinga Apayao, meaning "peace pact".
- Budong : tagalog word for 'group' or 'team' ; usually coined for small groups of soldiers or vigilants. From the 1986 tagalog movie "Balweg, The Rebel Priest".
The story of Father Conrado Balweg, a Catholic priest who began his revolutionary career in 1979. He defended the ancestral land rights of the
Tinggians, of Abra Province in the Cordillera Mountains of Northern Luzon,
against government-backed mining operations. Abondoned by the Church and hunted by the government, he goes underground and joins the Communist Party of the Philippines/New People's Army.
- Budong : our group' s name.. actually started as a mockery or as a joke after watching the movie "Balweg" (for our Sociology class) when I was caught wearing an (almost) army-green photographer's vest to school. The name stuck, and in turn, we made it into an acronym...
- Above is perhaps the earliest photo (if Gel could come up with an earlier one!) I've got of the budong, taken during our 4th year college retreat in Antipolo (1989). From the top row, left to right.. Nannette, Its, Gel and Maan. Bottom row, left to right, Sylvia, Bambie, Tetet and that's me, Yang.
Budong = group, team, pact, stylish, comfortable, accomodating, unique, diverse, wierd (alien-like?!?), witty, funny, etc. etc. etc. get it?!?
